Pedestals

Originally intended to support statues representing the heads of emperors, the pedestal has fortunately seen its use reconsidered. We now entrust it with our sculptures, vases and other works of art, which it is designed to enhance. Rather rounded in shape, the pedestal is generally solid in the center, which distinguishes it from the selette, which has a similar purpose but four legs.
