Cousin of the bedside table, the somno takes its name from the Latin somnus, meaning "sleep". Cylindrical in shape, its closed section provides storage space, while its top holds a night-lamp.
Having fallen into disuse as a bedside table, it can now be found as a vintage piece of furniture, serving as a pedestal for a statue. It is praised for its compactness, which still offers additional storage space, and for its cylindrical shape, which makes it easy to position and dress up a corner of a room.
